When you get into a relationship with someone, don’t lose who you are. Don’t abandon your own hobbies and dreams for their sake. Over time ive learned that the only way to be truly happy in this life is to be you. Since nobody can do it better, then it better be your job. Never let someone you love (or think you love) change you to the point where you have no independence or identity for yourself. Make sure you still know who you are and you can still the things you loved to do before you got involved with the person. Unless its smoking.

I currently live in the capital city of Hartford, Connecticut. Its on a major avenue with in the city in a very populated apartment building. Each of our 18 or so unites is full with at least two people. The city of Hartford isn’t so bad. I was born and raised here just like my mother, her mother, and her mother was. The city has people from all walks of life and races living with each other in our community. The only problem I have with where I live is that we’re so close to our neighbors. No privacy at all to speak of.

I’m a music lover by nature, so I grabbed one of my favorite band shirts to wear around town today. The weather is lovely here in New England today and I definitely wanted to wear my Mudvayne shirt with my big jeans today. I remember a time in my life when my band t shirt and big jeans WERE my uniform. Now, nine years later, I moved them to the back of my closet to replace them with perfectly crab white tops and black bottoms. So it’s Mudvayne and JNCO today. Hey, it’s my day off and I don’t have to be bleached, pressed, and starched to death today.

I’d love a tiny garden and a nice yard for us to finally own a dog. My children need a place to play that’s not just a concrete lot. It’s hard to find a job that is secure in terms of finance AND that you wont be laid off. I’d like to create a lovely home if I could. I never thought that if I could have anything in the world, Id give up my wish for a beautiful country home for my children. Oh, and lots and lots of sunny weather.

The drawings inside my sketchbook tell the story of what I was thinking and how I was feeling at that time in my life. It followed me though middle and high school. It traveled with me when I signed myself over to a mental institution for what I now know to be schizoaffective disorder. This sketchbook represents all I’ve overcome to be the woman I am today with a husband, a job, and children. When I open the pages and flip through the sketches, I’m frightened by what I used to be but I thank God now that my life is different- and better!

York for a day trip. We went to Ellis Island (which we got a kick out of- because the seagulls kept attacking us for our pretzels and hot dogs. One brave bird swooped down and ate my sister’s pretzel out of her hand. She was scared but we thought it was hilarious. Seeing all the different people from all over the world was also one of the best parts. For an eight year old in the early 90s, video games had nothing on this day trip.

In my spare time or on days off, I love to sit down and watch things I haven’t gotten to watch on my DVR. I have so many episodes of my favorite shows like The Sopranos, Squidbillies, and even Modern Marvels. I’m also a gamer, but not an avid gamer by any means. Since I’ve had children, I’ve had to grow up even though I’m still relatively young. I play Facebook games as well. So far, my favorite game was Ponzi- which was recently shut down and a replacement game called FrontierVille was spawned. In other words, my DVR, my Playstation2, and Facebook take up all of my spare time.
